Amelieke Cremers is a clinical scientist with a research focus on the microbiology of severe bacterial infections. In the Netherlands she was trained as medical specialist in Clinical Microbiology at the Radboudumc in Nijmegen. Her PhD was on genomic epidemiology and molecular diagnostics of invasive pneumococcal disease. Currently she does a postdoc in experimental bacteriology in the laboratory of Jan-Willem Veening in the Department of Fundmental Microbiology at the University of Lausanne. Here she investigates pneumococcal virulence in human environments using CRISPRi-seq; a molecular tool to screen for bacterial genes that are important for survival in a certain environment.
