Experimental Infectiology

Clinical and scientific research is an important part of our activities. In addition to their commitment to patient care, the doctors at our hospital are intensively involved in research.

Clinical studies are conducted both within the hospital itself and in cooperation with national and international centres. At the Medical Research Centre, our hospital operates the Laboratory for Experimental Infectiology.

Research focus

Our scientific research focuses on the following areas:

  • Resistance mechanisms of Gram negative bacteria
  • Pneumonia: epidemiology (CAPNETZ), antibiotic therapy
  • Rational antibiotic therapy
  • Respiratory infections: Pneumococci, influenza-associated aspergillosis
  • Covid-19: epidemiology, immunity (specific antibodies and T-cells) after infection; prognostic factors (biomarkers, multi-omics), superinfections
  • HIV: treatment simplification, prevention measures Mother-to-child transmission
  • Epidemiology of infectious diseases
