Symposium “digital health – the future is now”

We stand in the middle of an ocean of digital health, which impacts on every individual, health care provider, insurer as well as health politics. Digital health integrates newly available means of IT and communication into the daily medical reality. In principle, it has an enormous potential to positively impact on health outcomes and individualized resource allocation. On the other hand, its introduction precedes agreed international standards of data protection, and, quite often represents the optimization of organizational workflows, e.g. providers, insurers, rather than focussing on overall health care outcome. Applied well it can raise all endeavors, but if used haphazardly and without agreed standards, it can drown all other achievements.

The aim of the symposium is to point out opportunities and challenges of digital health in order to pave the way towards a user-friendly, secure, patient-centred and comprehensive digital health concept focussing on the optimization of relevant health outcomes.

The scientific program was drafted by the Kantonsspital St. Gallen, the University of St. Gallen, Empa and Mayo Clinic. The topics will be presented by international experts in the field.

We look forward to your participation and to meet you in person.
